I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) as well as a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). I volunteer as an executive member of the National Capital Region Employee Assistance Professionals Association (EAPA). As a counsellor and psychotherapist I adhere to the ethical standards of the CRPO and the CCPA. My education includes a MA in Counselling and Spirituality from Saint Paul University and a BA in Psychology from the University of Waterloo.
Ongoing professional development is an important part of my practice and to this end I have completed advanced training in Object Relations Therapy and Self Psychology from the Ottawa Institute for Object Relations Therapy. I am currently completing training in Somatic Experiencing with the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute and PACT (Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy) under the supervision of Stan Takin, PsyD, MFT. I also participate in consultation with my colleagues and am supervised by a registered clinical psychologist.
In addition to my counselling expertise, I have extensive experience as a human resources professional and consultant providing expertise to corporate clients in the private and public sectors.
Making the decision to come to counselling is a significant step towards a more fulfilling and productive life. It's important to find a counsellor with whom you can connect and feel comfortable because an integral part of successful counselling is this relationship between the counsellor and client. My hope is to create a safe and accepting place for you to explore, heal and integrate emotions, thoughts, beliefs, sensations, and actions. I use a collaborative approach that focuses on what you want to achieve in counselling and in your life.
